Malibu Dream Airstream offers a private hilltop stay with expansive ocean views. This retro trailer, surrounded by nature, includes a large deck, fire pit, and modern comforts. It’s a relaxed, off-grid escape just minutes from Malibu’s iconic beaches and scenic hiking trails.

The Airstream is fully restored with a clean, mid-century aesthetic. Inside, it’s compact but thoughtful: built-in storage, warm woods, and soft lighting make the space functional and inviting. The bed faces the window so you can wake to ocean views. There’s a small but fully equipped kitchen and a cozy dinette. Every detail is curated, from the glassware to the linens.

Outdoors is where the experience expands. A private deck offers loungers, a fire pit, and a grill. There’s also an outdoor shower with mountain views and total privacy. With no neighbors in sight, it’s a true escape—ideal for couples or solo travelers looking to disconnect. At night, the fire crackles, the stars come out, and the quiet is absolute.

The stay is fully off-grid but comfortable. Solar panels power the essentials, and there’s a water tank and composting toilet. It’s low-impact and lightly luxurious. There’s no Wi-Fi, but you won’t miss it. The cell signal is strong enough to check in if needed, but most guests lean into the disconnection.

You’ll need to drive up a winding dirt road to reach the Airstream, but the effort is worth it. The host provides detailed instructions and a guide to the property. Once there, you’re free to explore the land—hike up the ridge for even wider views or stay close to your base and take in the shifting light across the ocean.

Food is bring-your-own. The kitchen includes a stove, fridge, and basics for cooking. Many guests stop at nearby organic markets in Malibu before heading up. There’s also a charcoal grill on the deck for evening meals with a view.

Malibu Dream Airstream is not a hotel. It’s a private experience—a few days of true stillness in one of California’s most scenic corners. Ideal for anniversaries, creative retreats, or solo resets, it invites guests to slow down and take in the landscape with zero distractions. Simple, remote, and stunning—it’s California stripped back to its best.

THE SURF

Malibu is a classic surf destination with consistent waves year-round. The main break at Surfrider Beach—15 minutes from the Airstream—is famous for its long, peeling right-hand point break, ideal for longboarders and intermediate surfers. Zuma Beach, 20 minutes away, offers more punchy beach breaks, great for all levels. Nearby County Line provides a mix of reef and beach breaks with fewer crowds. Summer brings reliable swells, while winter can offer heavier surf for advanced riders.

THE FOOD

While the Airstream includes a kitchenette and BBQ, Malibu offers plenty of dining options. Head 15 minutes down the hill to Malibu Farm for organic meals by the pier, or grab fish tacos at Malibu Seafood. Nearby cafes like Lily’s and SunLife Organics are great for casual breakfasts. Most spots are within a 20–25 minute drive, making it easy to explore without sacrificing the peaceful setting.

THE DESTINATION

Located in the hills above Malibu, the Airstream is about an hour's drive from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Public transport is not easily accessible from LA or Malibu to the trailer, so it is recommended that guests hire a car service. The end of the drive includes a winding road—best navigated during daylight. The area is dry and sunny most of the year, with cool ocean breezes. While the trailer is rather secluded, there are many activities close by. The Deer Creek Canyon Park is located next to the trailer and offers many short or long hikes for guests. Other nearby activities include hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, beach days at Point Dume, or shopping in Malibu Country Mart.
