Perched among treetops beside a river, Treeful Treehouse Sustainable Resort is a four-suite resort that prioritizes sustainability, comfort, and design. Guests come for the treehouses, but stay for the peace, hospitality, and lush forest surroundings.

Each treehouse is unique in layout but follows the same principles—elevated wooden structures, large windows, solar power, and composting toilets. Interiors are simple but warm, with natural materials and minimal decoration. Beds are fitted with crisp linens, floors are polished wood, and views stretch out into a green canopy and blue sky. There's no television, no noise, and no concrete.
The property is 100% off-grid. Energy is generated from solar panels, water is drawn and filtered from the nearby river, and waste is sorted and minimized. A suspended bridge connects the main treehouses to shared areas like the lounge, kitchen, and viewing platform. There’s also an open-air bath by the river—a guest favorite—where you can soak under the stars, surrounded by forest.
Treeful is well-suited to couples, families, and solo travelers. Kids often love the novelty of the treehouses and the freedom to explore. Days are slow-paced and centered around nature. Guests can swim in the river, relax in hammocks, read on the deck, or take short hikes into the surrounding hills. Wellness and relaxation treatments, like a waterfall sauna and massages are offered as well.
The resort is remote but accessible—just a 90-minute drive from Naha Airport. The surrounding area is known for its natural beauty and relaxed pace. While not a typical tourist hub, Nago offers quiet beaches, forest trails, and a slower rhythm of life.
Treeful is not a luxury hotel in the traditional sense. Instead, it offers something rarer: a peaceful, environmentally conscious experience designed to reconnect guests with nature, without sacrificing comfort or care.

Okinawa’s northern coast is not a classic surf destination, but nearby spots like Tengan Point (1 hr drive) offer reliable reef breaks with clean rights and lefts. Conditions are best in winter with northeast swells and light winds. Waves can be hollow and fast on bigger days, so intermediate to advanced surfers are best suited. Expect light crowds and beautiful reef scenery. While not conveniently close to surf breaks, Treeful's unique, tranquil setting and the nature you get to see during the commute make the drive worth it.
The resort offers daily breakfast made from local, organic ingredients. Lunch and dinner can be pre-ordered and are simple, home-style meals with Okinawan staples. The kitchen space is communal, encouraging guests to cook or gather. Dining is casual, outdoors, and family-style, often shared with the hosts. Nearby, the town of Nago offers soba shops, seafood diners, and fruit stands within a 15–20 minute drive.
Treeful is in Nago, a quiet town in northern Okinawa. Fly into Naha Airport (OKA), then drive 90 minutes north through coastal highways. The weather is warm year-round, with tropical rains in summer and cooler, dry winters. Okinawan culture mixes Japanese and Ryukyuan influences—friendly, spiritual, and slow-paced. Okinawa has a rich and tumultuous past, both as a major maritime trade port and as the site of a devastating battle in WWII, which led to the town falling under the rule of the U.S. Administration for 27 years. Today, the town of Okinawa is an example of resilience, as, despite past events, it has preserved its cultural indentity.
Nearby activities include kayaking the river, hiking through subtropical forests, visiting the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, or relaxing on secluded nearby beaches.
